A little over a year ago I was diagnosed with plantar fasciatis and I had to stop doing my regular workouts which mostly consisted of cardio. I decided to try yoga to see how well my foot would fair and I found that I could not only get through a class with little to no pain, but through Yin I learned new ways to stretch my injured foot which I believe has helped greatly in the healing process. After taking the hot yoga classes (and loving them), I decided to give BarreAmped a try and I was hooked. I LOVE BarreAmped! The classes are always changing and challenging my body in ways I never knew possible. I loved it so much, I decided to get certified! :)

I like to teach from a “strength” perspective in which everyone finds their strength... mentally or physically. Some of the classes can be very challenging but I believe there’s a place for everyone, and I do my best to help them find it. I love to coach!!

I have been an athlete all my life. I’ve been running since high school and have completed marathons and half-marathons as well as several 5Ks and 10Ks. I have also participated in several mountain bike races as well as sprint triathlons. I was even a Pom Pom captain in High School and was in ballet!!! I taught step aerobics when it was cool to wear scrunchie socks and thong leotards... omg.
I do weight training 4/week focusing on Olympic Lifting. Competing in Power Lifting and Olympic Lifting and holding two state records in weightlifting via Wisconsin Weightlifting. I love to run the Madison trails, and I’ve been a member of Dragonfly since it opened.

Why I Love Dragonfly
Initially I was intimated by yoga – I really thought I had to be a vegan bike rider who saved animals, but the DFly community welcomed me and all my ways and lifestyle. It is really a safe place to be you and a place of acceptance. Couldn’t ask for more. Plus the variety of workouts are amazing! (P.S. I do want to save animals... lol).

Barre is an intensive body shaping experience designed to produce reliable results, no matter the client. The method is influenced by classical and modern dance (though it is not a dance class) and utilizes a barre to achieve optimal positioning. Insights from Pilates, yoga, and orthopedic stretching also balance the method’s unique approach. The precision-oriented technique focuses mainly on small, isolated movements within deeply held and challenging postures. Our Barre classes are proven to increase metabolism, burn fat, and lengthen tight muscles. With commitment to the technique, you get recognizable results exactly where you want them. What to bring: Mat, towel, water (also available for rent/purchase) What we provide: Weights, ball, straps, and filtered water dispenser Room temp: ~80°

I started practicing yoga regularly about 10 years ago as a supplement to my marathon training. More recently it has become crucial as a practice to release, lengthen, and strengthen as a supplement to my biking. Yoga has been a wonderful tool for learning how to use breath to tune into the body during any time I feel stressed or during physical activity.

My Teaching Style
I teach a fun and energetic class that challenges and empowers both experienced practitioners and new yogis alike. My teaching style is minimalist; after ensuring the class has found their way into an asana, I allow space to experience their practice.
Coming from an active background and having endured various injuries and setbacks, I have learned the benefits of yoga for everyday movement. I aim to equip students with the strength and mobility to thrive both in and out of the studio.
Experience
After practicing yoga on and off for several years, I really dove in with consistency during the Spring of 2023. I was recovering from a recent surgery and yoga provided a great source of low-impact movement. The benefits of a regular practice to not only my body but also my mental health were immediately clear, and I was eager to dive deeper into the world of yoga!

Breathe in, Sweat out! Dragonfly Flow is a type of yoga called Vinyasa. Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement.” This style focuses on linking the breath with movement and is often referred to as a moving meditation. The poses flow from one to another in conjunction with the breath. Build strength, increase flexibility, find focus, and have fun. You don’t have to know the poses to start–just try it out and after a few classes, you’ll be hooked. When you connect breath with movement, you give yourself the gift of possibility. The room is gently heated at 95 degrees to warm your muscles and ease you into poses. The heat feels amazing and know that you can always take child’s pose. Honoring your body IS yoga! Each instructor has a unique style of teaching (some love to give assists, some lead athletic classes while others lead more meditative classes) Breathe, Sweat, Move! What to bring: Mat, towel, water (also available for rent/purchase) What we provide: Blocks, straps, and filtered water dispenser Room temp: 95°

I love to present accessible opportunities for each student to realize their own moments of personal grace and growth. My style is upbeat and purposeful, encouraging students to explore and rethink their edges, both mental and physical, and perhaps peek past them to witness a glimpse of their future selves.
My flows begin with a firm foundation in mindfulness, joyful focus, self-compassion, and breath. We build from there, fostering confidence, openness, and strength as we work towards empowering peak moments, offering opportunities for each student to find and express their unique voice.
I strongly encourage everyone to take what they need, and know that is what is most important, whether that is pushing their edge, freestyling, or taking some much needed and deserved rest on their mat-- I will support you!
Experience
My yoga journey began on April 3, 2020. I spent the next year teaching myself at home with the help of a couple apps and LOTS of googling. I practiced nearly every day, and on my one year anniversary celebrated by coming to Dragonfly on an intro trial-- and fell in love with the studio, staff, and community. I continue to practice near daily, loving the space and comradery at DFly. In March of 2022, I completed my RYT-200 training here at DFly and applied as a teacher. I continue my journey of exploring and expanding my Yoga experience every chance I get!

This hot class (105 degrees) offers time to embrace aspects of yoga at a pace that encourages awareness of the connections of mind, body and spirit. Class begins gradually, allowing the body to acclimate to the heat and quiet the mind. The combination of asana (finding and holding poses), pranayama (focused breathing) and vinyasa (moving with breath) deepens the practice and offers time to refine your body’s unique version of each pose. Research shows that practicing in higher heat increases the feel good neurotransmitters (endorphins) in the brain and blood flow which can boost mood as well as reduce tension and stress. What to bring: Mat, towel, water Room temp: 105°

My Teaching Style
My goal is to create both a physically and mentally challenging yoga sequence, one that will encourage you to test the boundaries of your practice. I offer plenty of time to deepen into poses allowing you to slowly and mindfully move and grow within each pose while using breath to feel a true mind and body connection.
Experience
I began my yoga journey with Dragonfly when the doors opened back in 2011. At the time my routine usually consisted of lifting weighs and cardio of some sort, typically running as I felt this gave me the best results for staying fit. I noticed Dragonfly one day while out on a run and never gave it much thought.....that is until January rolled around and being a fair weathered runner, I didn’t want to run in the cold. The first class I took was Fire and while I didn’t even think I would make it through the class, I did end up coming back and my practice very quickly turned into a daily routine. From a physical standpoint, yoga has given me a combination of strength, balance and flexibility, additionally it has made a positive impact on my mental and emotional health as well. I completed my 200 hour Dragonfly Teacher Training in the Spring of 2018.

My Teaching Style
I was once told my teaching style is like a ‘warm hug’ - its my mission to leave every client feeling as such! I love beginning and ending flows with deep, peaceful rest and quiet - setting the tone for class, and hopefully for your day. I guide students through graceful, powerful sequences, in hope that they can see and feel their strength and beauty, and maybe challenge themselves. I weave alignment queues, and mindfulness & self-love reminders, throughout class, so students walk away not only having learned about and practiced yoga, but found a bit more peace and self-acceptance.
Experience
I found yoga in 2010 after a years/long struggle with body image and exercise issues. Through yoga I truly got to know my body, and developed deep honor and respect for all that it does. I took my first Dragonfly class in 2011, and attended sporadically at DFly and other studios over the years. In 2017 I became a monthly member and began a daily hot yoga practice at DFly that continues to this day! My drive to teach stemmed from a desire to help others work towards the same peace, joy, and acceptance - in both body and mind - that yoga gave me.
Favorite Pose
My answer to this shifts every few years as my body shifts and changes! Right now my favorite pose is Warrior 3 - I love the feeling of stability, power, stillness, and deep breathing.

I started my journey in 2018 when a friend invited me to a $5 flow class at Dragonfly. I had never taken a hot yoga class before and assumed it wouldn’t be that challenging. Well, I was wrong. I loved the heat and difficulty of holding poses! I came back every week. Things really changed for me when I took my first UP class. After I took Power Up and Yoga Up, I was beyond hooked and these types of classes became part of my regular fitness regimen. I really enjoyed the loud music and intensity of these classes.
