My Teaching Style
I strive to teach classes where students can tap into their body awareness and moving meditation. My teaching is marked by focused, alignment-based cues; given with the intention of helping people understand the mechanics of their body. I like to offer creative escalation sequences, challenging balances, moments for organic movement, and space for silence. My favorite movement feels expansive and dance-like. I hope students feel embodied and peaceful leaving class.
Experience
I began practicing yoga about 8 years ago, as a supplement to classical ballet training. Yoga was a freeing and non-judgmental environment, where I learned about my body mechanics for injury prevention. As I continued dancing through my undergraduate at UW-Madison, my yoga practice continued to grow into a more and more important part of my life. In the last 2 years, I have taken an interest in contemplative practices and the spiritual roots of yoga. I am grateful to be a member of the Dfly community. Thank you for sharing your practice with me!
Favorite Pose
Trikonasana/Triangle: I enjoy the process of getting my hips and shoulders in one flat plane in this pose. Triangle is great combination of stretch across the inner thigh, strength in the obliques, opening across the chest, and energy through the arms to the fingertips.

My Teaching Style
My intention is to design classes that balance challenge and excitement, ensuring accessibility for yogis at any level. My goal is to empower students by linking breath with movement, fostering a discovery of inner strength and confidence. Emphasizing breath awareness, mindfulness, and the smooth transitions in Vinyasa, I aim to lead students through transformative practices that enhance both physical and mental well-being. My sequences are thoughtfully crafted to unlock the comprehensive benefits of yoga, welcoming all yogis on a path of wellness and self-exploration.
Experience
I started practicing yoga in the spring of 2012 in Grand Rapids, MI. I was invited to try hot yoga by a fellow coworker and the minute I started flowing on the mat, I knew it was something special. I have been practicing vinyasa flow ever since. In April of 2022, I traveled to Costa Rica for my first ever yoga retreat. It transformed my life and after returning, I started practicing yoga every day. I continue to practice daily as I have discovered the power of how practicing every day can have on your physical and mental health.

Why I Love Dragonfly
Dragonfly has been my home away from home. After moving to Madison in the Fall of 2018, I didn't know anyone. The welcoming environment that Dragonfly offered and the sense of community that it encourages offered me friendship and connection.
I love the variety of classes Dragonfly has to offer. Whether I need a physical and mental challenge or time to slow down, there are so many options available.

I have a passion for fitness. I love it!!! I began teaching in 2007. I teach a little bit of everything from spinning to TRX. They are all great and variety is key.
I fell in love with Dragonfly in August 2011 while doing a 2 week trial. I knew after my very first class that I wanted to teach yoga too and it had to be at Dragonfly. I began my 200 hour teach training program with YogaFit in March 2011 and finished in May 2014.

Breathe in, Sweat out! Dragonfly Flow is a type of yoga called Vinyasa. Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement.” This style focuses on linking the breath with movement and is often referred to as a moving meditation. The poses flow from one to another in conjunction with the breath. Build strength, increase flexibility, find focus, and have fun. You don’t have to know the poses to start–just try it out and after a few classes, you’ll be hooked. When you connect breath with movement, you give yourself the gift of possibility. The room is gently heated at 95 degrees to warm your muscles and ease you into poses. The heat feels amazing and know that you can always take child’s pose. Honoring your body IS yoga! Each instructor has a unique style of teaching (some love to give assists, some lead athletic classes while others lead more meditative classes) Breathe, Sweat, Move! I love teaching (and practicing) a slower flow class, so expect to hold poses a bit longer with me! I love using blocks in my personal practice; I encourage everyone to see props as a way to find a deeper expression of a pose, not as something to avoid.
Finally, I’m a huge classic rock fan, so you'll probably hear familiar favorites in my playlists ;)
Experience
I’ve been doing yoga on-and-off since I was in college, but I really got serious about my practice in 2023. My work life was incredibly stressful, and the yoga studio was the only place where I felt like I could turn off my brain and just exist in the moment. When I left that job, I decided to get my teaching certification and I’m so happy I did!
Favorite Pose
Firelog: this is a deeeeeeeeep hip opener that isn’t commonly cued in classes! I love this pose (and its cousin, shoelace), so I try to cue it frequently for my students. It’s definitely one you want to take slow and ease into, but the stretch is totally worth it.

Fitness and Yoga have been two of my passions for as long as I can remember. I have a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education and Adapted Physical Education, and a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I was a Physical Education Teacher for 30 years in the Madison Metropolitan School District, a Social Emotional Learning Coach for an Alternative H.S. in MMSD, and an Adult Fitness and Yoga Specialist for Madison Community and Recreation. I completed my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2012 with Deborah Williamson. I developed and started Dragonfly's 200 Yoga Teacher Training, and Yoga Up Trainings beginning in 2014. Barre is an intensive body shaping experience designed to produce reliable results, no matter the client. The method is influenced by classical and modern dance (though it is not a dance class) and utilizes a barre to achieve optimal positioning. Insights from Pilates, yoga, and orthopedic stretching also balance the method’s unique approach. The precision-oriented technique focuses mainly on small, isolated movements within deeply held and challenging postures. Our Barre classes are proven to increase metabolism, burn fat, and lengthen tight muscles. With commitment to the technique, you get recognizable results exactly where you want them. Experience
I have always enjoyed fitness and staying active. I enjoy hiking and walking trails, Barre fitness, and using my own cardio equipment at home. I have past experience teaching aerobics and gymnastics. My Dragonfly journey started with a search for places around Madison, WI offering Barre classes. I was so excited to find Dragonfly offers Barre classes, and hot yoga, amongst many fitness options to choose from. For me personally, I sook out Barre classes for the overall body stretching, strengthening, high intensity workout that it has to offer. Barre keeps me moving and offers variations that complete a great workout –strengthening body and mind! Barre 45 and Barre Cardio are my favorite classes.
Favorite Pose
Foldover at the Barre – foldover at 45 degrees really challenges our form, while targeting the glutes, hamstrings, and deep back muscles (erector spine). The pose requires focus and many variations. I can feel every aspect of the workout, every time. It’s such a great feeling to “feel it”!

Little Known Fact About Me
I raced bicycle motocross/BMX bikes for a few years. Both of my brothers talked me into racing bikes. At the time, there weren’t enough girls signing up to have a BMX class for girls to race, so I mostly did it to help support the raceway being able to have a Powder Puff class for racing. Powder Puff was the name given to the all-girls class for BMX racing.

I love to present accessible opportunities for each student to realize their own moments of personal grace and growth. My style is upbeat and purposeful, encouraging students to explore and rethink their edges, both mental and physical, and perhaps peek past them to witness a glimpse of their future selves.
My flows begin with a firm foundation in mindfulness, joyful focus, self-compassion, and breath. We build from there, fostering confidence, openness, and strength as we work towards empowering peak moments, offering opportunities for each student to find and express their unique voice.
I strongly encourage everyone to take what they need, and know that is what is most important, whether that is pushing their edge, freestyling, or taking some much needed and deserved rest on their mat-- I will support you!
Experience
My yoga journey began on April 3, 2020. I spent the next year teaching myself at home with the help of a couple apps and LOTS of googling. I practiced nearly every day, and on my one year anniversary celebrated by coming to Dragonfly on an intro trial-- and fell in love with the studio, staff, and community. I continue to practice near daily, loving the space and comradery at DFly. In March of 2022, I completed my RYT-200 training here at DFly and applied as a teacher. I continue my journey of exploring and expanding my Yoga experience every chance I get!
